FliteskinTM is a fiberglass sheet with a built
in smooth finish. It has become the standard for airplane covering whenever a
realistic, scale finishing is needed.
It combines sheeting, glassing and finishing in 1
product, saving countless weeks of sanding and priming work.
It is the closest
representation of the real sheet metal finish of the full size aircraft without
the extra weight.
Read the Applications page for details.
Features:
Flexible to go around curves (12mm radius for the .010"/.254mm sheet)
Can be glued directly to open frame
structures or foam cores.
Fuel proof and weather proof.
Can be primed and painted right away
or used bare.
Eliminates exposure to epoxy resin
for those with allergies.
It allows thin, very strong trailing
edges that don't chip or dent.
See through skin allows precision cuts
over plans, ribs and formers.
Available in sheets of 36" x
48" (91 cm x 120 cm) and 36" x 24" (91cm x 60cm)
.010"x36"x48" (.25mm x 91cm
x 120cm) $49.50
.010"x 36"x 24" (.25mm x
91cmx 60cm) (Half sheet). $26.75
.007"x36"x48" (.178mm x 91cm x 120cm) $57.50
.007"x36"x24" (.178mm
x 91cm x 60cm) (Half sheet).
$29.50
The .007 sheets are most preferable for tail, control surfaces, lining, etc.
For
wings 80" (180cm.) span or larger .010 (.25mm) works very well.
Very sharp leading edges, wing tips with compound curves should be glassed the
traditional way after the top and bottom of the wing have been skinned (see
applications page). If a metallic leading edge is desired, Aluminum tapecan be used to achieve scale looking results.
